Periodontal treatment

The gums and bones in your mouth, are collectively referred to as periodontium. The health of your periodontium is the key factor in determining the prognosis of any dental treatment received, and is very closely linked with systemic diseases like type 2 diabetes and heart disease. In cases of unhealthy periodontium ( or periodontal disease), a special type of non-surgical deep cleaning is needed to prevent further recession of the gums and/ or bone level. Unhealthy periodontium is the leading cause of “ wiggly teeth” and must be prevented in order to maintain your natural teeth throughout your lifetime. Dr. Adlakha will discuss this treatment option with you, if appropriate.

Cosmetic Ortho

With advancements in orthodontic brackets and wiring techniques, short term cosmetic ortho is an excellent way to get the smile you have always wanted, or get you back to the smile you had when you first got your braces off ( retainers really are important). Set up a consult today, and we can discuss what the options are. More often than not, cases can be completed in the time between your 6 month cleanings!

Services

Partials and Dentures

Partials and Dentures are removable appliances designed to replace many or all missing teeth. In certain situations, these can be planned in conjenction with implants to have a more stable feeling option. They are also viable treatment options for patients who have factors making them ineligible for implants or bridges. Dr. Adlakha will discuss all options with patients so they together, can come up with the most appropriate treatment plan.

Services

Bridge

Bridges are used when one or more teeth are missing and there are existing teeth on both sides of the open space. Bridges are a great treatment option in situations where the adjacent teeth to the space are damaged and require full coverage restorations, or in situations where patients are not candidates for implants. Bridges can be made from three types of material: solid gold for reliable long wear, porcelain fused to a gold base for strength and beauty, and high-strength metal-free porcelain for optimum cosmetic results.

Services

Dental Implant

When it comes to replacing one or more teeth in your mouth, a dental implant can be an excellent option. Implants are biocompatible posts that replace the roots of your missing teeth. They are physically and biologically designed to attach to your jaw bone and become the foundation for a natural looking restoration. Implants restore the natural beauty, function, and health of teeth.

Veneers

Veneers are thin, semi-translucent “shells” typically attached to your front teeth. Veneers are customized from porcelain material and permanently bonded to your teeth and can be a more conservative approach to improve the appearance of your smile.

Common problems that veneers are used for:

  • Spaces between the teeth
  • Broken or chipped teeth
  • Unsightly, stained or discolored teeth
  • Permanently stained or discolored teeth
  • Crooked or misshapen teeth

Services

Crowns

A crown is a permanent covering that fits over a tooth that is decayed, damaged or cracked. Our porcelain crowns mimic the natural state of the tooth and replace missing or damaged tooth structure. Porcelain crowns cover the entire tooth and are typically used to treat a severely damaged tooth. The process for receiving a crown typically consists of two visits over a two week period. Once the procedure is completed, proper dental hygiene, including daily brushing and flossing, is required to maintain healthy, bacteria-free teeth, gums and crowns. Given proper care, your crowns can last a lifetime.

Services

Fillings

The concept of a “filling” is replacing and restoring your tooth structure that is damaged due to decay or fracture with a material. With our advanced materials, most fillings are completely undetectable, so you have the most natural looking and feeling restoration possible.

Services

Wisdom teeth and other extractions

Wisdom teeth are the last adult teeth to come into the mouth. Most people have four wisdom teeth at the back of the mouth — two on the top, two on the bottom. Impacted wisdom teeth can result in pain, damage to other teeth and other dental problems.Since they’re hard to clean, they may be more vulnerable to tooth decay and gum disease than other teeth are. When they are partially-erupted, the opening around the teeth allows bacteria to grow and will eventually cause an infection. For these teeth, early intervention is recommended, as it is better to remove teeth before they are causing any type of problem.

In some situations, extractions are warented with the treatment options available to save a sick tooth, are not enough to restore the tooth to health. In these situations, Dr. Adlakha will review all treatment options, as well as ways to replace the missing tooth/ teeth.

Services

Root Canals

Root canal therapy is needed when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. In order to save the tooth, the pulp (the living tissue inside the tooth), nerves, bacteria, and decay are removed and the resulting space is filled with medicated dental materials which restore the tooth to its proper form and function.More often than not, root canal treatment is followed up by a full coverage crown. This is to increase the strength of the tooth which is no longer getting strength from its blood supply. Root canal treatment is an excellent, predictable way to restore sick teeth.

Dentistry for the Entire Family

We enjoy working with patients of every age group. We believe that children that learn to take excellent care of their teeth at a young age, maintain the healthiest smiles throughout their lives. Good habits start early, and dental care is no exception. For convenience, we are able to schedule multiple family members on the same day, and will do anything possible to make your experience efficient and enjoyable ( for the little ones too) !

Services

Nightguards

We are pleased to offer our patients custom-fabricated nightguards to help those patients who tend to clench or grind their teeth. Severe bruxism ( clenching or grinding) is often associated with jaw pain, neck pain, headaches, fracturing of dental enamel, or sensitivity of teeth along the gumline. They are a critical need for patients with extensive dental work, or those prone to these habits.

Services

Sealants

Back teeth often have deep grooves and depressions along their biting surfaces, which are too narrow to be cleaned by toothbrushes and oral rinses. As a result, unprotected grooves become susceptible to cavities, as acid from the foods that we eat, break down and weaken tooth enamel. Tooth sealants protect these high risk areas by sealing the grooves and depressions, preventing bacteria and food particles from residing in these areas. Sealant material is a resin typically applied to the back teeth, molars and premolars and areas prone to cavities. It lasts for several years but needs to be checked during regular appointments. It is effective preventive treatment for children and adults alike.

Services

Routine Teeth Cleanings

You should schedule a routine dental cleaning every six months. During this visit, we will remove plaque from your teeth, paying special attention to areas that your toothbrush cant reach. We will also apply fluoride to help protect your teeth once you leave the office. Fluoride is a relatively recent but important advancement in dental and oral health. Studies consistently show that a moderate but consistent exposure of teeth to fluoride helps strengthen and rebuild tooth structure, and helps prevent future decay. If you are due for your dental cleaning, please call our office to schedule an appointment.

Services

Preventing Gum Disease

Proper oral hygiene, daily home care and routine dental checkups will minimize the risk of gum disease. Gum disease ranges from mild (gingivitis) to moderate to the severe (periodontitis), and can be diagnosed easily at your first visit. Treatments are available for every case of gum disease, and are critical to the foundation of your oral health.

The following symptoms are often associated with persistent, untreated gum disease.

  • “Long” teeth (receding gum lines expose the root portions of your teeth)
  • Discolored or deteriorating tooth structure
  • Bleeding gums, often associated with bad taste or smell
  • Infected gum line (discoloration or inflammation of the gum tissue)
  • Tooth loss or tooth movement

Services

Patient Education and Preventive Care

Maintaining proper oral hygiene is a critical component of your overall health. In caring for your teeth at home, you can often times prevent dental issues from arising, and save yourself from problems and costly dental treatment in the future. Our clinical philosophy revolves around early detection of dental issues, should they come up. The earlier these problems are caught, the more options you have for treating them and the greater the overall prognosis.
